ABOUT

Brando Kotarski (vocals + guitar)

Joseph Soderholm (guitar + backing vocals)

Brett Hemminger (drums)

Santiago Torres (bass)

The early renditions of RKX were formed after Brett got his first drumkit for his sixteenth birthday and Brando was looking to start a new band in Vancouver after moving with his family over from the Netherlands. The two jammed out covers and originals while finding their sound. They went through numerous fill in bassists and guitarists so they couldĀ  perform at their high school talent shows.

Brando first met Joe at the music program at a different high school and instantly bonded over their similar tastes for punk and metal. Brando told joe about his idea for a band and asked him to jam, only problem was Joe couldn’t play bass so Brando took up the role of bass player so joe could slay on guitar. Now with the early line up complete, they quickly wrote new songs and started demo recording in Brandos bedroom.

They soon self-released a demo album in March of 2017 called “Bleach Boys” under the name of “Sly-Detrick” and sold CD copies at friends, family and local shows. As the band wrote new material they wanted to up the production quality and go into a studio to record an ep. After asking around they got referred to Andrew Conroy at flash recordings in Vancouver to produce and mix their self-titled RKX ep. in November of 2017.

With the bands sound slowly evolving with more intricate guitar parts the band needed an extra member to play live. So they asked high school friend Santiago to replace Brando on the bass and put Brando back on guitar, finalizing the line-up they have today.

In October of 2018 the band went back into the studio with Andrew Conroy to produce their first LP “Dream Theory” that was later released on the 7th of December 2018.
